Assistant Product Manager
Role Purpose:
Aftermarket will lead the scientific identification, introduction, and ongoing optimisation of Luman’s aftermarket product portfolio across India. This is a dual-mandate role: (a) New Product Introduction — building a rigorous pipeline of high-potential SKUs for Luman’s channel, and (b) Existing Portfolio Optimisation — re-evaluating competition to improve margins and sales velocity on current products.
Key Responsibilities :
A. New Product Introduction
- Conduct structured market surveys to identify gaps in Luman’s current portfolio vis-à-vis channel demand across distributors, retailers, and fleets
- Map demand clusters by vehicle application, geography, and segment (CV, PV, 2W, tractor, OTR) to prioritise high-opportunity SKUs
- Define go-to-market strategy for each new product: phased launch, pricing architecture, initial stocking norms, and channel push plans
- Set product margins at launch — MRP, trade margins (distributor/retailer), and Luman net realisation — ensuring full-channel profitability
- Source identification and vendor qualification: evaluate domestic/international suppliers, conduct quality audits, and benchmark against Luman’s OEM-grade standards
- Lead packaging and branding development for aftermarket SKUs — design brief, pack artwork, label copy, SKU coding, and retail display standards in coordination with the agency
- Build category-wise competitive benchmarking matrices: price, quality, pack design, claim positioning, and trade terms
- Create product launch kits: technical data sheets, comparison charts, mechanic-facing sell sheets, and training material for the RM/DSR field team
B. Existing Portfolio Optimisation
- Conduct periodic competitive audit on live Luman SKUs — price walk, retailer offtake, scheme efficiency, and mechanic preference data
- Identify underperforming SKUs and propose corrective actions: reprice, repack, reposition, or discontinue
- Coordinate with Sales Ops (War Room) to correlate product-level offtake data from iMAST with competitive activity in the field
- Generate margin improvement recommendations by renegotiating source pricing or engineering cost-out on existing products
- Support development of product-specific secondary sales plans and distributor activation tools
C. Research & Analytics
- Build and maintain a live competitive intelligence tracker covering key brands (Mahle, Ryco, Baldwin, Bosch, Minda, Wabco, Roots, Rane) by category
- Conduct periodic retail audits (via field visits or panel data) to capture facings, pricing, and promotional activity
- Interface with OEM engineering contacts to identify service part migration opportunities into the aftermarket channel
- Track regulatory and emission norm changes (BS VI Phase 2 OBD, upcoming BS VII roadmap) and translate into product pipeline opportunities
D. Cross-functional Coordination
- Work with plant (Gurtej Singh Sethi) on feasibility and tooling timelines for new product manufacturing or sub-assembly
- Brief and manage packaging agency, test lab, and sampling vendors
- Coordinate with the Brakedown with Anhad content channel for product storytelling — technical content, comparison videos, and training material
- Support NSH and Area Head team with product knowledge clinics and BRM deck preparation
